Renewing Hope Through Accountable Leadership
Leading with Vision and Integrity
Under the leadership of Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial, the South Sudan Salvation Movement (SSSM) is charting a new path for South Sudan — one built on unity, responsibility, and action.
We believe that leadership must be measured by service, not privilege, and that progress is achieved when leaders stand with the people, not above them. SSSM’s mission is to restore the faith of every citizen in the promise of their nation.
Leadership for the People
We are redefining what it means to lead — putting honesty, humility, and service at the heart of political life. Every decision must reflect the will and welfare of the people.
Renewing the National Vision
Our movement is driven by a renewed sense of purpose: to rebuild South Sudan into a peaceful, stable, and self-reliant nation guided by justice and opportunity for all.

Joining Hands for a United and Peaceful South Sudan
In October 2025, the South Sudan Salvation Movement (SSSM) officially joined hands with the United People’s Alliance (UPA) — a coalition of South Sudanese opposition groups working to build a peaceful, just, and unified nation. This partnership marks a new chapter in our shared mission to restore governance, peace, and dignity to all South Sudanese citizens.

About the United People’s Alliance (UPA)
The United People’s Alliance (UPA) is a South Sudanese opposition alliance bringing together diverse political movements, including those involved in the Tumaini Peace Initiative.
Shared Vision: Together, UPA and SSSM are committed to ending state collapse and replacing it with a system of accountability, inclusiveness, and progress for all.
Formation: UPA was established to consolidate opposition parties under one umbrella, including the former South Sudan Opposition Movement Alliance (SSOMA).
Leadership: Chaired by Pagan Amum Okiech, the UPA is guided by a vision of unity and reform.
Objective: To form a unified political and military front that advocates for peace, justice, and national renewal.
Negotiation Role: UPA strengthens the peace negotiation process by presenting one voice on national issues.
Recent Development: The alliance recently welcomed Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial and the South Sudan Salvation Movement (SSSM) as full members.
Why This Partnership Matters
The alliance between SSSM and the United People’s Alliance (UPA) strengthens the voice of reform, unity, and accountability in South Sudan. By joining forces, these movements present a united front to tackle the challenges facing the nation — from political fragmentation and state collapse to the urgent need for inclusive governance.
This partnership is more than political alignment; it is a symbol of hope for citizens across all ten states, demonstrating that collaboration and shared vision can overcome division and build a stronger, more peaceful South Sudan.

Through this partnership, SSSM and UPA reaffirm their shared belief that national salvation lies in unity, dialogue, and reform. We stand together to create a South Sudan where leadership serves the people and peace becomes the foundation of prosperity.
